Irish Artist PIGSY is widely known for his exuberant expressionist artworks that have been presented in solo shows in Ranelagh Arts Centre,
The Kenmare Butter Market and legendary street art venue The Kemp Gallery.
Currently in residency in the studios of Malaga’s La Casa Amarilla Contemporary Art & Cultural Centre, PIGSY will be creating a body of work
that will culminate in an exhibition showcase at the end of the residency. This exhibition will be titled «First things last» and will consist of
works that examine the theme of «Interlocked» and how seemingly unrelated things are connected.
The title of the exhibition comes from a variation on a quote in the famed Quentin Tarantino movie Reservoir Dogs, and for PIGSY, «First
Things Last» explains the concept for this art residency and the importance of the carrying out the creation of art during the period in
residency. «In effect», he explains, «I start out with a blank white canvas and then move on to the production stage where I paint on the
canvas. The next part of the process is to show the work created in the exhibition at the end. However, this is not the end for the works of art
as the very next day after the exhibition I will be painting over all of the works that have not sold or been reserved on the night. I will be
painting them white which will bring me lastly back to the first part of the process. It is a circular process, and it is literally, first thing last».

El artista irlandés PIGSY es ampliamente conocido por sus exuberantes obras de arte expresionistas, las cuales han sido presentadas en
exposiciones individuales en el Centro de Artes de Ranelagh, el Mercado de Mantequilla de Kenmare y el legendario lugar de arte callejero The
Kemp Gallery.
Actualmente en residencia en los estudios del Centro de Arte y Cultura Contemporánea La Casa Amarilla en Málaga, PIGSY estará creando un
conjunto de obras que culminarán en una exposición al final de la residencia. Esta exposición se titulará «First things last» y consistirá en obras
que examinen el tema de «Entrelazado» y cómo cosas aparentemente no relacionadas están conectadas.
El título de la exposición proviene de una variación de una cita de la famosa película de Quentin Tarantino, Reservoir Dogs, y para PIGSY, «Lo
primero al final» explica el concepto de esta residencia artística y la importancia de llevar a cabo la creación de arte durante el período de
residencia. «De hecho», explica, «comienzo con un lienzo blanco y luego paso a la etapa de producción donde pinto sobre el lienzo: la siguiente
parte del proceso es mostrar el trabajo creado en la exposición al final. Sin embargo, este no es el final para las obras de arte, ya que al día
siguiente de la exposición estaré pintando todas las obras que no se hayan vendido o reservado esa noche. Las pintaré de blanco, lo que
finalmente me llevará de vuelta a la primera parte del proceso. Es un proceso circular, y es literalmente, “lo primero al final».
