Berta de la Rosa
Berta is a Spanish-born interdisciplinary artist based in London. After a BA (hons) degree in Fine Arts, she has collaborated on numerous projects in New York, Milan and London. Recently she completed a MA in Photography with Merit at Central Saint Martins School of Arts, London (2013).
Her work as a visual artist explores personal concerns with broader sociological and historical questions. Through her projects Berta assigns meaning to objects, places and people’s narratives which somehow are part of her own story. The desire to find the peculiarities of the ordinary led her to focus on storytelling as an instrument to play with the nuances between reality and fiction. She uses the descriptive power of photography to translate her own perspective into a universe of familiar images the audience may find connections with. As a result of her recent practice emerged her new project Getsemaní.
Alongside her work as an artist, she has also been involved in curating exhibitions of international artists such as François Morellet, David Tremlett and the DJ and musician Moby, among others.
